What is a country without an agreement?

  • No agreement for the health care component has been signed between Belgium and another country (e.g.: USA, Thailand, etc.) AND/OR
  • The agreement does not apply, since you do not have the nationality or status targeted (for example: French nationality in Morocco) AND/OR
  • The agreement does not apply if you leave without the prior authorisation of the medical advisor and you are unfit for work or disabled.

Cover documents

In these situations, it is impossible to issue a cover document.

Possibilities for refund

  • If you have incurred outpatient costs abroad, e.g. consultation with a doctor, no intervention is planned according to Belgian prices and conditions.
  • Have you been urgently hospitalised abroad (i.e. at least 1 night in hospital)? In this case, you can submit your original paid invoices, with a sworn declaration, to the health insurance company and you may benefit from a refund based on Belgian conditions and prices.
